There is always a great random science experiment to find at The Homeschool Scientist. Most times I forget to jot down the fun things we do on a whim. To guarantee I count it as “homeschool science” I created this free Science Experiment Worksheet.
We love our Apologia curriculum, but every now and then we want to take a break from the reading or just try something awesome we’ve seen online. This worksheet provides a space for the experiment name, “what I think” will happen, “what I saw” and observed, and “what I learned” because I was shocked something didn’t magically disappear … or let’s be honest with boys – bummer it didn’t blow up!
By middle school it’d be great to provide lines for nice neat penmanship. Those lines make my son incredibly anxious and he stresses about penmanship. I’ve left these larger blanks to ensure the words are written and he doesn’t skip it out of frustration. And some days – a drawing will suffice.
If you’re in love with your science curriculum or just looking for a time filler over a long weekend, we’ve found 15 cool experiments to try – because they just look cool ! Most of these seem to require easy items around the house and I love when science is easy. I don’t care how many times you’ve made “clouds in a jar”, that dumb experiment has NEVER worked out for us! NEVER! Every time I tried and failed my son would give me a pity glance and then say, “Mom, just call Miss Marci”. Marci – The Homeschool Scientist. Thankfully she reassured me many times, “Part of science is failure. Don’t be upset it didn’t work, you’re still learning.” I just learned never to make clouds in a jar. Hopefully, you’ll have better luck with these cool experiments below!
