This week we enjoyed a quiet happy home!
With my freshman in public school for the first time … ever, it had interesting affects on my 4th grade (who is still homeschooled).
He didn’t have to hear any jealous complaints or snide remarks when he did great.
He didn’t have to wait for the computer to do his math.
He got more read aloud time with me – which I’m sad to realize I haven’t read him any books (besides History) since the summer !!
I was in a much better mood not hearing the bickering or being part of the bickering.
My oldest came home happy and enjoyed playing with his brother. It was as if someone had flipped a switch.
Minus one student in the house, I had time to do laundry. As in: get it to the drier and fold it! I had time to meal prep and start dinners. I had time to finish my own college Lit homework! I had time to workout. All without worry or fear that high school credits were not being earned. It was awesome !!
AWANA started back this week and someone enjoyed ‘Crazy Hair Night’.
At his elective co-op they sewed aprons for art class. He was overly excited to use the sewing machine. I wish I knew how to use ours!
Health
My husband has some dietary issues we’re working with this year. So we decided to eliminate red meat, dairy, and alcohol from our diets while we’re waiting for blood work results.
It’s been an interesting 2 weeks getting acquainted with vegetables I’ve never bought before! I Googled how to cut eggplant!
I also stopped going to CrossFit because the gym is in ‘competition training’ and I’m not about to hurt myself on speed drills. Thankfully, a friend invited me (and some other moms) to her garage to do HIIT workouts together on Wednesdays. It was fun.
Thankfully it’s been a great week for everyone. New wake up times. New afternoon pickups. But overall quiet and happy home!
