What is a do-a-shape and why on earth would I share “preschool freebies” when I’ve got older kids?
I’m sharing these types of freebies because the focus is on developing fine motor skills. These “do-a-shapes” were valuable to my son when he was younger and struggling to hold a marker correctly.
So, a “do-a-shape” is similar to the “do-a-dots” markers and circle coloring pages. However – I noticed my son just dotting the page. Dot. Dot. Dot. Dot. Not much effort, time, nor thought went in to giving his coloring pages the chicken pox.
I quickly created this Monster Do-A-Shapes worksheets to help trace different shapes. Stars, hearts, squares & triangles. It was different, and a bit of a challenge. Eventually we moved on to Preschool Letter Hunts and forgot all about our Do-A-Shapes. I hope they’ll be helpful to someone else who has delayed fine motor skills or another youngster who just likes monsters!
