Pirate Activities !
PIRATE WORDS how many new words can you create from the original word, Pirate? Or how many dishes can you wash while your children try to make words from the word Pirate?
Pirate Biography – learn about a real life pirate from the past. Our favorite book was Who Was Blackbeard? Check out a biography at the library to fill in this biography notebooking page.
Be sure to dress up like your favorite pirate because it is a lot of fun to dress & Talk Like a Pirate!
Pirate Art – draw a beautiful pirate ship, create your own pirate flag, or draw a treasure map to include with your Pirate Biography. Maps are fun and we’ve shared a great Paper Bag Map you can easily recreate!
Pirate Adventure Short Story – Create a short story about a fictional scallywag, pirate ship, or hidden treasure! This is a great time to teach parts of a story, protagonist & antagonist, as well as raising action, climax, and resolution.
Build Pirate Legos – put all those blocks to good use and create pirate ships, pirate islands, cannons and anchors out of Legos.
Visit a Boat Museum – there are a few pretty cool pirate ships around Florida, but you don’t have to visit just a pirate ship. You can visit any Navy ship or check out an old wooden ship like the ones they had during the American Revolution. We saw one in DC!
Of all the building fun … this one is my favorite! Check out my giant Cardboard Box Pirate Ship at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers!.
I share the tutorial at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers. We loved reading, You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Pirate while snacking in our ship.
Watch a few great Pirate movies. No desire to go out in the land lubber donut loving crowd? Rent a movie!
Peter Pan ~ the Disney version or the newest musical-ish movie Pan.
Hook was my favorite growing up.
Or check out some cartoons like Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
You don’t have to wait for Talk Like a Pirate Day or kick yourself for missing it. Embrace a high seas adventure all year long.
