First Semester of Classical Conversations Challenge B my son read, Copper Lodge Library: THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE STORYBOOK Great tales of heroism in U.S. history. I asked if he liked the biographies. He said, “I wouldn’t recommend the book for a biography because it was just one spot in a person’s life. I like reading about their entire lives”. I think it’s great these 8th graders learned about a blip on the timeline, but I obviously like to dig a little deeper. I still love the Who Was Series – I wish they made a series for teens, heavier but not overwhelming.
People Who Impacted American History – free worksheets
I got busy creating biography pages that look similar to our Book Reviews, Explorers, and Greek gods & goddesses worksheets. If it’s not broke – don’t fix it. However, coming up with a list of people who impacted American history was a bit difficult. We all have our own opinions. So I found some help from BiographyOnline.net and compiled their list of people. Give or take a few we really wanted to study myself.
As with everything that happens in American History it can definitely get a little one-sided depending on who is telling the story. So I’m hopeful this is not pro-republican, pro-democrat, pro-white, pro-male, pro-black, pro-president, pro-activist, or pro-female list. You get my point?! This isn’t about political views – it’s just about how people impacted history. Because we all know my political views are all over the place! Save the guinea pigs and Taco Tuesday!
These worksheets were created for 3rd-5th graders
The sheets offer birth, death, a place to draw a photo of the person or something amazing they did, 5 interesting facts lines, and a box of accomplishments, quotes, and/or awards. I highly recommend reading as much about each person as possible and then picking a few favorite / interesting facts before feeling overwhelmed there isn’t enough room on the worksheet. The book has already been written – this is a more personal way for students to remember. If you track reading rewards or need to turn in book lists at the end of the year evaluation, I’ve offered a Biographies Reading List to track books!
People Who Impacted American History 20th Century

After creating this list it’s obvious I’m going to have to go back and fill in 19th & 18th Century people.
