I am so glad the holidays are over and we are back to our homeschool schedule! This week flew by as we’re embracing new habits for 2018!!
CrossFit!
More CrossFit this week for me! I’ve been 4 outta the last 10 days. Super excited. I’ve done snatches, jerks, swings, squats and even attempted box jumps. {all new words and movements for me}
This has been such a challenge and so rewarding! The sore muscles the days following definitely are tough to push through but I know I’m getting stronger. I feel … ‘solid’, less lumpy and jiggly.
I wish I could bottle up the happy and confidence I’ve been feeling. I definitely have a stronger wind in my sails!
Bible Study
Which definitely leads me to a new bible study! I signed up for the Ladies study at church, The Armor of God. So I bought the companion books to do with the boys at home. we’re just getting started but it’s been good so far.
Around Here
My oldest is dragging a bit because his ‘best friend’ moved away this week. 2nd best friend to move away in two years. It’s not been easy trying to cheer him up. And he’s almost 15! Mommy can’t hug away the sadness and spend the afternoon on the couch cuddling.
This might be a difficult season for me to mother. Those ‘go-to’ remedies are outdated and I just have to watch – and pray – for him as he handles these feels and difficult situations on his own.
Granola Bars
However … these new homemade granola bars have brought a smile or two to everyone in the house!
I found this recipe over the holidays. Rather than almonds I use pecans. I also dump Muscle Milk Protein into the melted butter & mix it up. I realize there is honey & brown sugar … but the protein makes me feel like it’s okay to eat ALL OF THEM! It also adds more vanilla flavor so these really taste like 7 Layer Christmas Cookies. Hubs gets dried cherries – the boys get their own plain batch.
