I blame my 3rd grade teacher. She refused to allow anyone in the room to use the word “nice”. Turn in a perfect assignment and she’d send it back with a note encouraging you to use another word besides the dreaded kiss of death … “nice”.
35 years later if I meet a person and they say I’m “nice” I cringe. It’s not their fault, it’s just my aversion to the word “NICE”!

Practice Synonyms – Print Instead of Posters
In effort to help my children write amazing interesting stories, I’ve created a few reminders to help them remember to use more colorful words. Synonyms are your friend!
Print these Language Arts “Instead of Posters” so your children will incorporate new, fun, and exciting words into their stories! I used a frog as a reminder to hop off the old boring word and hop on to a new descriptive word.
Free Time Frogs!
You can reward great words with snacks, tv time, craft time, etc. I made my boys earn frogs to exchange for screnn time. Print your Free Time Frogs here! In our home, 3 frogs = 30 extra minutes of online game time.
