We were fortunate to experience one amazing trip out west a few years ago! Our family (the 4 of us and our niece & nephew) stayed at a Dude Ranch outside the gates of Yellowstone National Park!
Our oldest, with his dad, went for a horseback ride along the mountain trail one morning.
They woke up extra early and set off with the Ranch hands. Half way up the mountain they stopped for a ‘cowboy breakfast’ which was cooked over an open fire.
Then they slowly rode down to the stables where I cried and snapped an obscene amount of photos!
I was so proud of our boy because I knew he was a bit terrified of the large animal! Thankfully, he rode a wonderful gentle horse.
That afternoon we saw Old Faithful for the first time!
Animal Encounters: Horses
Rather than questions about geology my son was interested in zoology. Specifically, he asked questions about horses.
Animal questions might just be the easiest way to get to the library! I created a horses worksheet to help learn more about these wonderful creatures.
