I am so excited about the new equipment we’ve added to my Home Gym!
After trying Crossfit at a real CrossFit Gym, I fell in love with lifting a barbell. I’m not sure why, but it just makes me feel happy. It definitely makes me feel strong. So I love love love my Titan Fitness 25lb barbell. Hubs bought me 10lb & 25lb ‘bumper plate’ weights. Which means I can drop them w/out breaking anything.
I really like the floor mat Hubs got me too. It’s 6ft long and goes together like a puzzle piece. The boys separate it more than I do but it’s super comfy. I haven’t tried a headstand on it yet though.
My second new favorite purchase is my 20lbs Titan Fitness medicine ball. I’ve discovered medball cleans & squats are just crazy fun now. I always felt awkward doing ‘air squats’ before. Either getting on my toes are just not sure what to do with my arms. Now squats feel more comfortable.
We also purchased a ‘jump box’. I was extremely intimidated by the wood one at the CrossFit place. It was heavy and just begging for a collision with my shins. I wanted to do them but I was too terrified to do more than a try. When I found the leather padded version I immediately took advantage of a sale!
It’s actually been great for many things besides box jumps. When I bought it I was worried it wouldn’t get used as much as my other home gym equipment. But I’m finding a lot of uses for it. The boys definitely love it! Especially for parkour tricks in the front yard.
One week after all of this arrived the flu hit our house and I was out for two weeks. Thankfully the road back to the workout schedule has included some late nights, slippers, and pajamas.
If I had a gym membership I would not have been able to go. With my “babysitter” in public school now I doubt I would ever see the inside of the gym during the day. Thankfully my youngest can get some schoolwork done or even watch a TV show while I’m in the garage working out.
The home gym is definitely a convenience worth the investment.
