I like gyms. All the weights and machines. It’s a playground for anyone who is serious about getting strong!
But gym memberships are tough on a Homeschool mom. Since I’ve “lost” my babysitter {oldest goes to public school} I can’t just come and go so easily.
My 10yr old is too old for baby daycares at the gym but too young to be allowed on the machines. I also do not like working out at the crack of dawn or late into the evening when Hubs is home.
So we’re back to a Home Gym.
I am no stranger to home gyms. My parents transformed part of their basement into a gym. They had a bench, weights, rowing machine, and different dumbbells. I loved having access to that equipment anytime of day any day of the week.
During our summer in Naples I did HIIT workouts just using a yoga mat and slam ball. Home gyms are possible if you’re willing to do it! They can be hard because the couch is on the opposite wall whispering my name.
But I am determined to spend quality time in our garage. For my 41st birthday my husband has agreed to buy me some more equipment since a 12lb kettlebell and 15lb dumbbells just aren’t enough.
I am liking the garage as my Home Gym rather than a small corner of my family room area. I was always nervous either hitting my hands on the ceiling fan or breaking a hardwood floor panel with the slam ball. I can definitely do some damage to the garage without any worry.
Current Home Gym Equipment:
kettlebell, dumbbells, yoga mat, gymnastics mat, slam ball, dry erase board, HIIT workouts book, chin-up bar, resistance bands & jump rope.
I hope to add:
medicine ball, barbell & weights, barbell grips, rowing machine, jump box (20”), TRX suspension bands, new sneakers & some gym clothes.
As much as I appreciate trainers, coaches, and a full gym of equipment ~ I’m embracing this season of Home Gym!
