I can not believe I have homeschooled another child through the elementary grades!
We have enjoyed another Fine Arts semester at Keystone Academy. This semester the students put on a mystery Wild West themed play. Parents were asked to vote on the villain half way through the play. (It wasn’t my child).
I’m even more determined to continue acting classes for him. The same week he sang and danced his diy glitter shoes through a musical type of play at church. 2 roles for 2 different locations and not 1 mistake!
We completed all of our curriculum as well as far as our Core Classes at home: Teaching Textbooks 5, IEW, All About Spelling 5, and A Story of the World Book 3.
We are also very proud he finished two Awana books this year! He obviously has naturally great memorization skills.
I can’t take credit for any of it. He studies on his own. Many times rewriting things I felt were a waste of time, but it worked for him. He is very driven – something I’ve been told is uncommon in the 2nd born child. Boy do I like when we break molds and jump out of boxes people try to stick us in!
He was nervous for the end-of-the-year standardized test, but I reassured him I wasn’t worried. It helped they had a putt putt field trip planned for the last day. He made four hole-in-ones !
I am happy Hubs and I agree continuing to homeschool through middle school is the right decision for him.
I started homeschooling in 2008. I certainly do not have all the answers. Both my boys are so different from each other.
But I can say I’ve not regretted it. Even the hard days. And there were hard days! The time I’ve gotten to know my boys, see them learn, discover their God-given talents, and enjoy trips around the globe together — I wouldn’t exchange it for all the money in the world!
