If you’ve known me for all of 5 minutes – you know we love scavenger hunts. When I was little a friend invited a group of girls over for a birthday sleep over. That night the neighborhood cooperated to host a Birthday Scavenger Hunt.
We ran from house to house asking neighbors for random items on the list. It was absolutely crazy fun! But we sure don’t live in Pleasantville anymore.
Now that I’m mom and reality tv has gotten a bit better than American Gladiator … We love the Amazing Race television show. We love the thrill of being on the hunt for something. A clue, a token, a win.
But scavenger hunts just aren’t the rage any more. I’m thankful our local library offers monthly scavenger hunts for the children. It makes returning books on time a whole lot easier!
If your family is anything like mine – they are going to enjoy our scavenger hunts. Since you and I do not live in the same town I tried to make these freebies relatively generic. It’s still a good way to pass some time and/or occupy children. Especially if you’re on a trip and you need a few minutes to organize your stuff while keeping children from jumping off the walls.
Free Scavenger Hunts: grocery store, camping, playground, library, flower garden, and farm field trip.
Feel free to print as many as you need for your group! Of if you’re brave, use your iphone and just keep track of what you find. We will be adding more soon!
