Farris & Foster’s Chocolate Factory Field Trip

If you love chocolate this field trip is definitely for you! If your kids aren’t old enough to go on a field trip then consider a date date night, moms night out, or even a birthday party for adults. But get you to Farris & Foster’s!

Located in Winter Park, Florida (near the Baldwin park area) Farris & Foster’s Chocolate Factory is a small local business. It offers an opportunity to make your own chocolate treats, learn about chocolate, and even buy chocolate by the box!

For our homeschool field trip, I did not organize this one, so I can’t remember the numbers we needed / cost. But they do give a discount the more you have in your group.

It was obvious they have been doing field trips for a while because they were very clear on directions, safety procedures, setting up supplies / ingredients, and having enough people there to help our group. It was well organized!

Each child had their own chefs hat and chocolate cooking station.   I really believe it’s because of this field trip that my son wanted to become a chef. He loved the independence to make his own creations, and was treated with respect.

Farris & Foster’s Chocolate Factory

After a short informative lecture about where chocolate comes and how Cocoa straight off the trees does not taste good … we enjoyed the opportunity for the hands-on activity portion.

Each participant was given a chocolate brick shaped into pizza and plenty of “toppings” to decorate their own slice.  And when I say toppings I really just mean sugar candy.

Each table of six would head to the conveyor belt to dip either marshmallows, Oreos, pretzels, and/or Rice Crispy Treats into chocolate and then watch it head down the conveyor belt.  I would have dipped a dozen Oreo cookies in chocolate if they had let me.  This field trip we were given a choice of dark chocolate or milk chocolate.

The chocolate all fits into a take home tinfoil container. It’s perfect. And you really worry your kids are going to gorge themselves, but they just can’t do it. The chocolate is so rich and yummy, no one in our group ate all of their treats.

Farris & Foster’s Chocolate Factory has excellent staff and customer service skills. I loved their backstory – good old hometown boy scouts. Everyone was patient and kind with our youngest ones and even with my son’s delayed fine motor skills.

I would definitely recommend this field trip if you haven’t been yet. Not many places I like visiting twice – but here I would go back. The space is small so keep that in mind if you are planning a field trip. A very large group might need to make two shifts. You can get more information online Farris & Foster’s Chocolate Factory or contact them directly. We had a blast and I felt good supporting this Florida small business!
