It’s been forever since our last wrap-up! This was definitely one creative week to share for the Weekly Wrap-Up!
The Living School Theater Students put on Swiss Family Robinson. My 4th grader had the part of the ostrich. Although he was disappointed to have been given only 2 speaking lines (for a 10yr he was a bit embarrassed because he felt old enough to handle a dialogue) we were determined to rock his ostrich costume!
I purchased a white boa and ‘big bird’ mask from Amazon. The only bird beak we could find that was not a chicken or duck. I was hoping for a post-Halloween Sale, but Party City had nothing.
Then we blew up a black trash bag and taped the boa around the edges of the bag. He wore a white shirt and black athletic pants. Everyone loved his costume – and I was proud of myself for bringing it together. It was my 1st homemade ‘theater’ costume! We felt it was better than just taping feathers to his arms.
He is looking forward to next semester’s Musical Theater Intensive Class. He is hopeful for more responsibility and more fun with his friends. Since this is a full day class, we have decided we will no longer take ‘academic classes’ through the school.
To wrap up the week we joined our local Homeschool Co-Op and decorated Christmas ornaments. My oldest really enjoyed going in his own creative direction to give me Snoopy & Grinch ornaments (rather than the snowman example). I have very few ‘kid made’ ornaments!
You think socialization is a problem … it’s not enough homemade Christmas ornaments!
I purchased a few kits the other day in hopes of adding some more kid friendly ornaments to our tree this year.
It was time again to gut the homeschool supplies and curriculum this weekend so we could keep our large table clean for upcoming creative activities. In my house flat surfaces beg for clutter and stacks of books. Which discourages learning and creativity. Clean tables beg for a masterpiece!
