Its Cherry Blossom season in DC. Sounds pretty nice, but I haven’t seen it living down here in FL. However, we are learning about Asia in Geography class. It’s a great time to create a Cherry Blossom craft!
Tissue Paper Cherry Blossom Branch
You will need:
Pink or white tissue paper. (Japanese Cherry blossoms are more white than pink)
Brown paper bag. I’m a big “lunch sack crafter” but white paper plates or card stock work fine.
Brown pencil or marker.
Glue.
Okay, so truth is that I started this craft as a ‘tree’ working vertical. Because I’m not a crafter and I wing all crafts!
But Cherry blossoms are not really tall thin telephone poles in nature. After the craft was finished I turned the bag horizontal and loved the ‘branch’ idea far more! To me (and every single person in my house with eyes) it looks better as a branch.
Make it:
Sketch a branch on the brown paper bag. (sketch the tree vertical & turn it like I did or start out horizontal)
Cut tissue paper into smaller square pieces – about the size of your palm. Then roll (ball up) the squares into different size blossoms.
Randomly glue ‘blossoms’ to the branch.
We have many different shades of pink tissue paper, I just chose to instruct my class to make one tree one color.
After our blossoms filled up the Branch we went back with brown colored pencils and shaded in the branch a bit more.
The class really enjoyed the craft. They then put the bags on their hands and posed together as a giant tree.
