The Foundations Master Class has been absolutely fantastic for my auditory, memorization master! My son loves his class and it’s been the perfect place for him having moved cross country. This Classical Conversations Community is one of the best we’ve encountered in all my years homeschooling.

I personally believe that CC is a bit easy for the 6th grade student. He sings, dances, signs, and chants his way through the day. But saying a history sentence and understanding what that sentence means requires a bit more during the week. Singing the timeline cards is impressive – but reading the back of the cards should be done at home. And I will say, the timeline cards are a beautiful resource!
I feel the day is a bit rushed to stick to the schedule when this homeschool mom wants to dive into the material, bathe in it, soak it up, and really wring out every single detail. 30 minutes is not enough time for art. One science sample is not enough for 9 students. So I feel Mondays are a bit more “observation flirting” and we need to expand on the information at home – than just singing statements.
Having been a hands-on teacher for a homeschool school, it’s hard for me to be satisfied with songs and sign language. And I taught a sign language class!! I like to build, create, and write! So, we expand these basic lessons during the week at home. I’m also a 3-hole punch folder lover. I can’t help myself. I like to create worksheets! To help with this year’s Master Class “homework”, I created worksheets to help build off Master Class info. The Cycle 2 information is the backbone of everything we do at home – so it’s not too many subjects off what he’s already memorizing.
These worksheets are more generic “helpers” than actual Cycle specific supplements. Feel free to Print these for your student or CC class. I hope they help!
Having a son with delayed fine motor skills – I did not care to include “lines” on these worksheets. Lines are intimidating and cause anxiety for sloppy penmanship. These worksheets aren’t about penmanship. I encourage you to buy a penmanship book if that’s what you’re hoping to find here. You will not find a focus on penmanship in any of my worksheets. The information is far more important than freaking out my son and making him less interested in the work because of sloppy handwriting he can’t really control.
CC Worksheets
- Presentation Outline – use this outline to help hit key points.
- History Sentence – write the history sentence and draw something to help remember.
- Science Experiment – keep this worksheet in a science folder to document experiments.
- Famous Artists – write down key information about the artist and draw their portrait or the famous work of art you liked best.
- Visual Latin Weekly Thoughts – even though VL is not a CC subject, we’re using it to help him become familiar before Challenge A. I believe Latin should be fun – not boring and Dwane Thomas does an amazing job.
