I am excited to start April Pray for Moms. The theme this month is marriage.
I was driving home from school drop off one morning praying up a friend. I started praying for her marriage.
Then suddenly God put all my friends marriages on my heart but heavier than He has before.
I’m speaking out loud as I’m driving home saying, “You want me to pray for marriages? Marriage? All April just … marriages? Dear God, no.”
You have to realize this terrifies me just a bit. I have heard/read many friends have gone through the ringer as they talk, teach, and preach about marriage. And by ‘ringer’ I am also talking separation and divorce. Â We enjoy their books and blogs only to find out later how much their marriage suffered.
I want to stay a long road trip away from the topic of marriage if it spares mine any discomfort.
But later that day, again on my heart – marriage.
I was debating taking off the whole month of April, running away like a scared little girl. Anything to avoid it.
I told myself I would just focus on the upcoming month of May and praying up moms during the month of Mother’s Day. That sounded responsible and wise. Better to be prepared!
Then again on my heart – marriage.
If I have learned one thing in 14 years of being a believer it is that obedience is far better than separation. To feel distant from God is a physical ache. I hate {hate hate hate} that feeling. And I know it well  in my years of blogging.  Wanting to do my thing not God’s thing. Eventually realizing that hurt of silence and fruitlessmess is because of my own disobedience and unwillingness to follow.
So I press on through April praying up marriages. My marriage, your marriage, future marriages, and also the church. The church is ‘the bride of Christ’ which is a marriage. I am praying for the church. I hope you will pray for the church as well this month.
April Pray for Moms
I have decided rather than put one name down for each day of the month, like we did in March, I have put down one word – one topic – one thought to pray over whomever God places on your heart that day.
God knows the details better than we could ever especially in marriage where we are so guarded and unwilling  to share the truth of how things are really going with our spouse.
I am attaching the April Calendar I am using with each word printed on it. Â It is not for showy decoration, but rather for your refrigerator to tape up and be a reminder.
If God leads you to pray for a specific friend, all your friends, future marriages, your own… Pray how God leads. I want him to lead your prayers and not my own words to be meaningless because I don’t know the details.
To really get the benefit of Pray for Mom’s like the Facebook page or follow on Instagram. I post daily reminders, thoughts, and scripture. It has been a help to many to keep praying each day and also could help start your prayers if  you are feeling blank before God.
