Help your 3rd-5th graders learn the 8 Parts of Speech. Use these fun themed free language arts packs.
What Are the 8 Parts of Speech?
Thanks to Classical Conversations we learned the 8 Parts of Speech thru song. Noun, Pronoun, Verb, Adverb, Conjunction, Interjection, Preposition, Adjective! Woot!! However, singing these wonderful parts of speech doesn’t really help a child know what they heck they are or ever practice using them, properly. Just because I can sing Beef Wellington doesn’t mean I know how to cook it. Or that I know any of those mysterious yet simple ingredients. Or the fact that Hubs is far better seasoning it than I will ever be. But hey, let’s sing: Beef Wellington, Woot!
Some students get tripped up on Adjectives vs Adverbs. Or the fact that an Adverb is more than just an “ly” word, but we sure do like to put it in that box! It’s comfortably safe to keep it to one job. HEY! What’s with interjections? Exactly my points. Students need to be practicing using parts of speech not just knowing that there are 8 of them.
To help my own homeschooler master the tricks of language arts, I created simple language arts packs. Print one or print all of the 8 Parts of Speech Language Arts Packs. I believe repetition is key! So print one or print them all!
What’s in these FREE Packs?
These packs include 10 pages of fun! A space to practice understanding what the 8 Parts of Speech are used for, lines to create themed Short Stories because creative writing is fun, and themed Word Banks with lovely words provided for students to help with those Short Stories! Word Banks are helpful to practice a “word of the day” for this age group or just getting into the habit of using “more colorful words”. I encourage all parents to buy their students an age-appropriate Thesaurus.
