After my youngest starred in Willy Wonka Jr last year we decided to read more Roald Dahl books. Especially since my son was Mr. Bucket and there was no Mr. Bucket in the movie! The books are short reads for a 6th grader, but they are such interesting books. I absolutely LOVED reading Matilda during our picnics when he was younger. We laughed until we cried.
6 Roald Dahl Book Review Sheets
I figured it would be fun to create Roald Dahl book reviews for some of our favorite reads. A nice way to work on Reading Comprehension, Penmanship, and experience more Children’s Literature!
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Matilda
- The Enormous Crocodile
- The Witches
- James and the Giant Peach
These 6 reviews offer: Setting Box, 5 Favorite Things List, This Book Taught Me Box, and an opportunity to “rank” the book with a 5 stars option. This is a fun way to introduce book reviews to children before their forced to write long papers. Fantastic Mr. Fox was created first and offers “About the Author” instead of “Setting”. At the time I was only going to create one review, but it lead to such great discussion I created more!
I suggest 3-hole punching the reviews and adding to a Reading Folder or Language Arts folder.
