4th Grade Homeschool

4th grade homeschool has always been my favorite year with my oldest – I hope it is as well with my youngest!

4th grade homeschool

This year we are creating a unique hodgepodge of subjects to hit exactly what we’re doing and where we’re going. It’s the first year our homeschool curriculum will match up to our family life. Usually I change family life to match up to our homeschool curriculum.

4th Grade is officially enrolled under Circle Christian (the private homeschool umbrella) for grading purposes. This is our 3rd year using them.  But 4th grade weekly classes are at The Living School – where I teach History and Sign Language.

Did you read about how much I loved teaching last year? ~> Get Involved.

The Living School offers: yoga, gardening, marine biology & FL ecology, Medieval History, Sign Language, Art, and Theater. Some of these classes we will use as our core – the others are just “fun classes” and checking the big irrelevant socialization box.

My son really loves this school, the wonderful teachers, and the students. He has made more friends at this school than any other co-op we have tried. His class has 14 students.

Science – Apologia Swimming Creatures / random animal studies

Snorkeling
History – Medieval, Story of the World Book 2
Language Arts & Creative Writing – WriteShop
All About Spelling 5
Math 4 – Teaching Textbooks
Art – The Living School
Theater – Swiss Family Robinson – The Living School
Bible – Awana

This fall we are going on a 2 week trip to Italy. We are ridiculously excited!!  This also ties in nicely with the Percy Jackson books I read this summer and our Medieval History class.

We plan on going on a few Connect Homeschool field trips. We’re only friends with two other families in this group, but we really enjoy their company. I am not planning the group’s field trips this year.

My goals for 4th Grade:

Enjoy these last cuddly years.

Embrace the craftiness of this child despite the fact that I am NOT ‘crafty’ at all!

Dont be afraid to try something new.

Listen more than lecture.
