3 Things to Do if You’re Reading Percy Jackson

My boys absolutely loved learning about Greek Mythology thanks to Percy Jackson! You know me, I ran with that interest and we learned about so many great things! But if you love these stories I insist you incorporate these 3 things right now!

3 Things to Do if You're Reading Percy Jackson

Print Greek Mythology Worksheets

If your students are getting into all the deets of each god, goddess and monster – help them keep that info straight by printing my gods, goddesses, and monsters worksheets. These are just the Greek versions – not Greek vs Roman. Here is what the pages look like – click the image below to check out the full list!

There is space for “god/goddess of”, “characteristics” and what they learned from the myth they liked. You’d be surprised, maybe it wasn’t really Medusa’s fault?!

Draw Greek Architecture

Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, oh my!! Greek architecture is known for tall columns, intricate detail, symmetry, harmony, and balance. The Greeks built all sorts of buildings. The main examples of Greek architecture that survive today are the large temples that they built to their gods.
Learn new architecture vocabulary words: capitals, abacus, echinus, to name a few! Draw your own columns with this free worksheet!

Learn Greek Roots

I’ve definitely shared our love for Greek & Latin Roots more than once thanks to WordUp! The Game Show volumes 1-3. Learn more about the program by clicking on the image below!

This fun quick curriculum helps 4th-8th grade students learn hundreds of English words by simply studying roots. Dwane, the teacher, does an excellent job keeping students engaged. Both my boys have loved it this series!!

Make a Roman Standard

Wait – Percy Jackson is Greek and this entire post is about Greek Mythology, plus you only said 3 things, so what gives?! I’m not having a senior moment, not yet at least. If you’re heading into the next series, which focuses on Roman Mythology (spoiler alert) – you’re going to love making a Roman Standard. If you’re not there yet, do it anyway because you’ll want to make one! My youngest absolutely loved it! Spray paint, coloring, tin foil – it’s a project. Your Welcome!!
